The Joint Unionist Centenary Committee has announced the date of the event being held to mark the fight against Home Rule prior to the signing of the Ulster Covenant – now known as the Balmoral Review.
The Committee would like to commemorate this great event by holding a parade to a venue in south Belfast and have at that venue a celebration of our culture as well as plenty for the family to do.
We know we can never re-create the events that our forefathers held but we can in our own way have events that celebrate the ability of our forefathers in organising a massive demonstration against Home Rule which attracted huge crowds from across Ulster (all nine counties) plus significant support from Unionists friends on the mainland.
As an organisation you are invited to attend this parade and celebration. It is expected that the parade will leave from five Belfast assembly points;
• Ballymacarrett Orange Hall, Albertbridge Road
• West Belfast Orange Hall, Shankill Road
• Sandy Row Orange Hall
• North Belfast Orange Hall, Alexandra Park Avenue
• Belfast Orange Hall, Clifton Street
The parade in which we would encourage participants, where possible to parade in period costume to a venue in south Belfast.
Date 19th May 2012.
The Committee will release more information in due course.

A tented village with stalls and exhibitions will also be part of the event, which starts on the evening of May 18.
The parade will take place on Saturday, May 19, and is expected to include Orangemen and bands from across the province as well as further afield.
Parades will start at l0.00am from a number of locations and there will also be a return parade at 5pm.
The event has been months in the planning, involving a joint committee of the Centenary Committee and Belfast County Grand Lodge.
It will mark the centenary of the Balmoral Review of Easter 1912, in which an estimated 200,000 unionists took part, highlighting their opposition to Home Rule for Ireland.
