Apprentice Boys in Remembrance
http://www2.apprenti...ontent=FaceBook
As the nation comes together to remember all those who have given up their lives in defence of our liberty the Apprentice Boys gathered at the War Memorial at Belfast City Hall.
As an organisation based firmly in remembrance of the actions of a brave few in 1688-89 it is only natural that we also remember the acts of the brave men and women who continue to pay the ultimate price in defence of our liberty in two World Wars and in recent conflicts.
Each year we meet at the War Memorial in Belfast City Hall for a service of remembrance on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday. The attendance at the parade and service continues to grow each year as the price being paid by our armed forces is brought into the spotlight.
The parade this year was led by officers of General Committee and Belfast Amalgamated Committee accompanied by the Churchill Flute Band from Londonderry. They were followed by brethren from across Northern Ireland and throughout the United Kingdom. Also joining us for our act of remembrance this year were the Whiterock Flute, Dunmurry Protestant Boys Flute and Lord Carson Memorial Accordion bands.

Derry Memorial Hall paint bombers 'intolerant'
http://www.bbc.co.uk...reland-15724466
The hall was attacked on Friday night
The Apprentice Boys of Derry have said those behind a paint bomb attack on the city's Memorial Hall at the weekend are intolerant of other cultures.
The paint was thrown at the hall on Upper Magazine Street on Friday night.
The loyal order's governor Jim Brownlee condemned those responsible and said the attacks had to stop.
"We're coming up to 2013 - UK City of Culture - all communities are trying to work together to make it a success and we could do without this," he said.

Hall attack ‘motivated by Remembrance Day’
By Donna Deeney
Tuesday, 15 November 2011
The Governor of the Apprentice Boys of Derry said he believes a paint bomb attack on the Memorial Hall occurred because it was Remembrance Day.
Paint was hurled over the Derry Walls and hit the Memorial Hall in Magazine Street early on Saturday morning, just hours before the Apprentice Boys left to take part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Belfast City Hall.
Governor Jim Brownlee said while there was no proof that the attack was linked to Remembrance Day, it was the natural conclusion to come to.
He said: “These attacks are doing untold damage to the city because they are basically an attack on our culture, but those behind them have to realise we are part of the culture of the city.
“We need to look back at when the Troubles were bad — then there were very few visitors and tourists but when the Troubles ceased the visitors came and continue to come in large numbers and when they do, it's not the Memorial Hall they spend their money in, it's the shops in the city.”
